The children run upstairs and hide in the bedroom where they are discovered by the elderly woman. It was written, directed, and scored by Alejandro Amenábar.
I'm not a Nicole Kidman fan really, but admired her performance greatly in this particular film. A boy who communicates with spirits seeks the help of a disheartened child psychologist. The movie gives you just enough clues to realize that something is wrong, and clever enough to not give you enough clues to figure out just what is wrong.
Something is not right.
The children were outstanding actors and I really could not fault it.
Love this movie. Alakina Mann and James Bentley did an incredible job! A top-notch supernatural thriller with Nicole Kidman chewing up the scenery as a seemingly devoted mother with some kind of personality disorder.
This film is smart, beautiful and scary, just like the ghost stories of olden times.
A woman named Grace retires with her two children to a mansion on Jersey, towards the end of the Second World War, where she's waiting for her husband to come back from battle.
The movie gives you just enough clues to realize that something is wrong, and clever enough to not give you enough clues to figure out just what is wrong. A truely brilliant ghost story! It's like one of the great old black and white ghost stories but better.

'The Others' is a very creepy old fashioned ghost story, beautifully acted by Nicole Kidman.
Stranded at a desolate Nevada motel during a nasty rain storm, ten strangers become acquainted with each other when they realize that they're being killed off one by one.
One of the best I've seen in some time.
We tried both discs to ensure one hadn't been marked incorrectly, but neither of the discs worked anyway.
Wonderful Thriller, superbly played by Nicole Kidman. It had a great Supporting Cast not the least of which were the children.

If you are looking for horror and blood lust don't look here. This is true atmospheric horror, the tension built with every scene, and with every strange character that appears. Another Most of all, the idea that suddenly disclose is really genius and botk Kidman and the all crew are so good at keeping the film disturbingly quiet, like there is something terrible laying underneath, something that you sense, but cannot really spot.
